S C Ashwin @ 2019 (Maheswari mam was always open to hearing all your problems, both academic and personal).
Dear Reader’s
During my pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering from 2019 to 2023, Maheswari ma’am played a pivotal role as my proctor, overseeing my academic journey throughout my four years at the university.
My initial encounter with her in her office remains vivid in my memory. Transitioning to a new environment can be daunting, but her words of encouragement provided much-needed reassurance during those early days.
Maheswari mam was always open to hearing all your problems, both academic and personal.
Ma’am consistently demonstrated openness and empathy, attentively addressing both academic and personal concerns. Despite occasionally posing challenges, her unwavering support remained steadfast.
One notable instance occurred during my first semester when a family emergency compelled me to miss an assessment in the Technical English subject, jeopardizing my overall grade.
Fearing failure, I reached out to Maheswari ma’am regarding re-registration process.
Instead of simply outlining the process, she took the time to understand the circumstances, offering guidance. She calmed me and made me take permission from my HoD for a retest which made me comfortably pass that subject.
In my third year, a disciplinary incident in the hostel resulted in Maheswari ma’am expressing extreme disappointment in me. However, her subsequent focus on my emotional well-being and academic progress showed her genuine concern for her students' holistic development. Despite her feeling very bad and potential embarrassment for her in university, her priority always remained ensuring her students' welfare.
Although I did not directly study under Maheswari ma’am, her mentorship extended beyond the classroom, profoundly influencing my academic and professional trajectory.
Presently employed as a Software Engineer at Bank of America, a position which I secured through college placements, I attribute much of my achievement to mam’s guidance and support throughout my tenure at VIT.
I am profoundly grateful for her mentorship and will forever cherish the invaluable lessons I learned under her.
